Richard Storey

Dr. Richard Storey is a scientist in the Freshwater Ecology Group at NIWA Hamilton, where he has been based since 2004. His background is in the ecology of stream macroinvertebrates, and his current research interests include biological monitoring, restoration ecology of streams, and collaborative planning of freshwater resources. In the past few years his research has focused on volunteer monitoring (citizen science) of streams and rivers. He has led the recent redevelopment of NIWA’s Stream Health Monitoring and Assessment Kit (SHMAK), and the NZWaterCitizens website.
